Abandoning the Trucks
The demand for tractors far outweighed the supply and our friends were keen to accept their services only when absolutely necessary in order to keep their costs down. This meant that we were in for a long wait. A community spirit developed and there was quite a party atmosphere.
We camped inside one of the empty trucks.
One of the drivers, Valdeni, was appointed chief chef and he produced amazing meals from the ‘kitchen’ on the side of his truck.
Although we had a good time and made a lot of friends whilst camping in the mud, progress was frustratingly slow. We had come only a matter of a few thousand metres in 3 days and feared we may have done better walking.
So after a big send off and several hours without rain, we headed off on foot, stopping every few meters to remove the mud from our wheels.
